Greetings,
Michael Ho

What a wonderful evening we had on September 21st with our friends from Tourism Malaysia! For those of you who were unable to join us, please feel free to scroll through the Malaysia & Borneo Presentation on our website.

Congratulations to Kim Taylor who was the lucky winner of our grand prize of 6 nights in Penang!

I also want to use this opportunity to say THANK YOU! I have received several phone calls and emails recently from people who have told me they heard about Unique Golf Vacations from one of our newsletter subscribers or clients. Your referrals are so very welcome and greatly appreciated. Thank you again for thinking of Unique Golf Vacations when talking golf with your friends!

As the golf season comes to an end in Calgary, and you may be thinking about winter vacations, I hope you will consider some of the outstanding packages we have for late this year and into 2012.

Our Hawaii golf package departs November 12th. We are still looking for a few more golfers to join us on this tropical 2 Island vacation. In February, we are off to experience the cultural wonders of Vietnam and Cambodia. For the non-golfer, our sister company, Unique Journeys, features a luxurious Danube River Cruise with Prague extension in September.

Please see the sections below for full details on the 2 golf packages, or visit Unique Journeys Danube for this non-golf vacation. If you have any questions about any of our tours, please don't hesitate to email or call me any time!

Sincerely,

Michael

Vietnam & Cambodia Golf Tour

February 2 - 22, 2012Vietnam & Cambodia Golf Tour

Vietnam is the eastern most country in the Indochina Peninsula. With a population of over 89 million, it is the 13th most populous country in the World.  Emerging from the various prolonged military conflicts, Vietnam instituted political and economic reforms resulting in economic growth being one of the highest in the world in the past decade. This has resulted numerous investments in the tourism infrastructure. Part of these developments are the numerous high quality golf courses that have recently been opened such as Montgomerie Links, and The Dunes Course by Greg Norman. Siem Reap is the most popular tourist destination in Cambodia because of the World Heritage Site designation of Angkor Wat. But to the surprise of many, there are two spectacular golf courses that have just recently opened. Critics have said that given time to mature, these two courses will be among the top courses in Asia.

Includes:

Return economy airfare from Calgary and intra-IndoChina airfares

All hotel accommodations as specified

Daily buffet breakfasts and other meals as indicated

All transfers & sightseeing tours by private coach with English speaking guides

8 rounds of golf including green fees, caddy fees and power cart (sharing)    Pricing: $4997.00 per person, twin sharing

Golf Tip - How to Improve Your Putting Strike

In this golf tip I am going to explain why hitting your putts out of the 'sweet' spot is so important to ensure a consistent strike and give you a drill to help improve your ball striking with your putter.

Every golf club including your putter has a 'sweet' spot. I'm sure you can remember hitting shots that just fly so sweetly off the club and go miles with little effort. That is when you've found the 'sweet' spot.

But why is it so important to find the sweet spot when you are putting?

Wine Pick of the Month

YALUMBA "The Scribbler" - Cabernet Sauvignon / Shiraz

Yalumba is Australia's oldest family winery, having been established in 1849 by Samuel Smith, a British immigrant to Australia who settled in the Barossa Valley.  Yalumba is an aboriginal word meaning, "all the land around" which was an apt name for this beautiful valley and its expansive landscape.

 YALUMBA

The "Scribbler" is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz harvested from select parcels from the Yalumba vineyards within the Barossa Valley.  Scribbler shows a dense crimson purple colour with an appealing nose displaying excellent concentration of dark fruits, spices, licorice and dark olives.  Fresh aromas of violets and lavender are present. The palate is silky and elegant, tasting of sweet blackcurrants and blueberries. The Shiraz is nicely layered within a tightly integrated and beautifully structured Cabernet Sauvignon palate.  A great wine to serve at your Thanksgiving dinner.

Aspen Wines and Northmount Liquor Store carry the Scribbler.Or just ask your favourite retailer to bring it in for you. This wine was awarded 90 Points Wine Spectator!
