Greetings,

What an amazing time we had in Thailand!UGV Thailand

The Thai people are very friendly -  which made venturing out to local restaurants and shopping in the evenings a safe and enjoyable experience.

Most of the courses we played were located within a half hour drive of our hotels, so after breakfast it was off to the links for our round of the day.

The Sheraton Hua-Hin Resort was really incredible with a lagoon style pool that winds around the entire property.

My personal highlight of the trip had to be the time I was an inch away of a hole-in-one. Oh well, maybe next month in Borneo I'll have more success!

We have some Pictures of the Trip available on our website. I hope you enjoy them!

I also want to share an upcoming tour with you that I am escorting through our sister company, Unique Journeys. While this trip is not a "golf" trip, I thought some of you might be interested in it. When we announced the Danube River Cruise a few months ago, emails started flooding in with people wanting to sign up for it. I would love for some of our "Unique Golfers" to join us and wanted to let you know about it before it sells out! If you have any questions about this tour, please let me know.

I hope you are all enjoying the first few weeks of Spring and  looking forward to sunny days in Calgary!

Sincerely,

Michael

Borneo Golf Adventure

April 22 - May 08, 2011

I hope you have enjoyed learning a little about Borneo over the

Sabah, Malaysian Borneo [2011]
Sabah, Malaysian Borneo [2011]

last few weeks. This week, I have a special treat for you if you are looking to learn even more about this incredible destination.

Produced by Sabah Tourism, this video showcases Malaysian Borneo as you have never seen it before.

Here is a look at a few more days of our upcoming tour:

Sunday, May 01 - This afternoon we visit a rural fishing village where we will commence our evening river cruise in search of wildlife and coastal birds. As dusk sets in, you will witness the amazing display of lights by fireflies along the riverbanks. Dinner at the village.

Monday, May 02 - Home of the Malaysian 2007 Amateur Open, this morning we golf at the Nexus Karambunai Golf Course. Nestled between a Borneo jungle on one side and the South China Sea on the other - this is Borneo!

Golf Pitching Tips to Eliminate Skulled Shots

Pitching is basically a shorter shot anywhere from say 20 to 60 yards where the ball flies most of the way and rolls only a short distance upon landing. This is one shot that many people have difficulty with and it is definitely easy to post a big score if you have trouble hitting these feel shots especially over ponds or bunkers. What then would be a good tip for hitting pitch shots?

Wine Pick of the Month-Back from Argentina

After spending a week in Chile and touring their Central Valley Cynthia Opsalwine growing region, I can see why Chile is producing such phenomenal wines.Did you know that Chile is practically a disease free, agricultural area because of the high Andes to the east, the Pacific ocean to the west, the dry, arid Atacama desert to the north and the cold Antartica to the south - no wonder the pesky Phylloxera bug could never penetrate this fertile, agricultural region.

Manso de VelascoI toured the beautiful Miguel Torres estate located in the town of Curico. They produce a very special wine called Manso de Velasco. This is a single vineyard wine devoted exclusively to Cabernet Sauvignon with some of the vines being over 100 years old. This wine pays homage to the former Governor of Chile, Manso de Velasco, who founded the city of Curico back in 1743.

Manso de Velasco shows an intense violet colour with jammy aromas of dense red fruits.Layers of plum sauce & fig with hints of cocoa. On the finish there are notes of aged tobacco.A remarkable wine. You can find this wine at Willow Park Wine & Spirts as well as at some Real Canadian Liquor Store locations.  CSPC #721449 - approx. retail is $38.00.
