You've probably noticed the limits of dress codes are being pushed further and further with pants, skirts and shirts becoming more and more daring each year.

 

When traveling abroad however, not only do you have limited space in your luggage, you should also consider that some courses may enforce a more traditional dress code, so opting for "conservative" is never a bad choice.

 

For instance, a course may indicate no denim, or no cargo style shorts - this can simply mean no shorts with side pockets. Or a shirt with a logo on it - the logo may be restricted to a certain size. Collared shirts - Yes, this is still enforced on many courses around the world. Hats or caps? You may be asked to make sure the brim is pointing forward.

 

There is much debate on the issue of dress codes on the golf course. Some say it's tradition and shows respect for the game and that you should just accept the way it is. Others will argue that times are changing and strict dress codes are restricting younger people from taking up the game of golf. One thing is certain though, this is not a situation we want you to face while on your vacation!

Rest assured, any courses included in Unique Golf Vacations itineraries will be thoroughly check out ahead of time and you will be notified of any restrictions that may apply. If you are golfing a new course here at home, best to always check the dress code first. If you are inviting a new golfer to join you, don't assume they know what to wear. Help them out by giving them a few tips on what to wear - they'll thank you for helping them avoid an awkward situation and an expensive trip to the pro shop.

Sauvignon Blanc 2009

What's summer without a refreshing, crisp and very tasty Sauvignon Blanc from France!  The Lurton family is no stranger to producing fabulous wines from this grape varietal, in fact they've been winemakers for more than 40 years.  This lovely example of Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Touraine region of the Loire Valley. 

 

Jacques Lurton Touraine Sauvignon Blanc offers mineral characteristics that are a true expression of the terroir.  A highly aromatic wine, releasing scents of pepper, guava and smoked flavours.  On the palate, the wine is fat, leading to freshness with superb acidity on the finish.  It pairs beautifully with a Beet & Goat Cheese salad or match it with lightly seasoned chicken off the BBQ.

 

This wine has just arrived in Alberta, so you may have to ask your local retailer for it.  Just give them CSPC #743139 and it should retail for approx. $17.95 or less.  Enjoy!!!
